According to IDEA, why is it important for a student to be involved in the IEP team?

The involvement of a student in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team is crucial, particularly for considering postsecondary goals and transition services. This is a fundamental principle outlined in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which emphasizes the importance of including the student’s voice in discussions about their future.

Engaging students in the IEP process empowers them to take an active role in planning for their education and future.
